Rajinder Da Dhaba…Overhyped is what we would call it. All friends vouched for the galouti kebabs and the gravy dishes but all we experienced was a truck load of spices in the food to make it tasty, dirty dustbins, stray dogs wanting leftover bones and loud, drunk men eating food after a party. We have eaten at many dhabas but never such a ‘rowdy’ experience. By the way…all this madness was after waiting 20 minutes for a parking space.
Galouti kebabs :
Price: INR 240 for 4 pieces
The ‘how can you not like them’ kebabs at Rajinder were softest that I have had in Delhi NCR but loaded with spices. My entire family had tears in their eyes (due to the spices). Either it was a bad batch and the proportions went off or it was just our bad luck. Not going back for these. Would rather have a less soft but tastier version somewhere else.
Bhurra Kebab :
Price: INR 180 (half chicken) and INR 340 (full chicken)
A whole chicken cooked with a thick red masala which was again spicy but lesser that the galouti. Well marinated but lacked standard.
Dal Makhani :
Price: INR 70 per plate
Large in quantity and value for money but thin and less creamy. They had put some cream on top to make it creamy but inherently lacked the richness that we would expect from a dhaba’s dal.
After these things, we didn’t have the courage to order more things and went back home. A disappointing experience overall and we aren’t going back 😦
