The two things that come to everybody’s mind when they hear ‘Gurgaon’ are ‘Office’ and ‘Beer’…isn’t it? Well keeping in tune with the Brewery culture of Gurgaon, a new one has come up in Sector 30. Called ‘Bottles and Barrels’ , this brewery is away from the main beer hangout hubs of Gurgaon such as Cyber Hub and Sector 29. Situated on the 2nd floor of Star Tower, Sector 30, BnB has two more breweries in the vicinity and a lot of offices.
On one such day we decided to try out this place out during lunch hours and here is our verdict on the drinks, food and ambience:
A sprawling space with a stage for live jamming apart from the DJ and some dance space in front of it. Different styles of seating all around with typical ‘brewery’ feel to it. In the morning it was dull with just 2-3 tables occupied but that’s totally justified. See pictures below for a better idea.
They have 4 types of beer namely,
We had a tower of the Jaggery Ale (6.5% Alcohol) and a pitcher of the Wheat Beer (4.7%). The good part about the beer was that both were quite smooth! Also, the server explained us which beer had what amount of alcohol so that we could take our pick (the strongest obviously 😉 )
Dahi Kebabs (3.5/5) : Soft kebabs for a brewery and mildly sweet (not sour at all ) but they were quite oily. Could be worked upon.
Spicy Honey Chilli Potatoes (4.5/5): Quite crisp and fresh. More of honey than spices and that’s how we requested them to be. Decent quantity as well.
Salt and Pepper (4/5) : Deep fried veggies such as cauliflower ,baby corn etc. Never been a fan of this dish but what they served was decent in taste and not oily. This dish can get very heavy due to oily and that was taken care of here.
Cottage Cheese Skewers with Chilli Sauce (4/5) : We liked these skewers as the sauce they were in was honey-chilli. Good burst of flavors in total. The skewers comprised of cottage cheese, bell pepper, zucchini and broccoli.
Chelo Kebab (4.5/5) : The best dish on the table! A mid-eastern dish which is a minced chicken kebab (lamb version available as well) with Iranian flavors. The only Indian flavor was of Black pepper. It was served with a lot of dips such as Hummus, a Beetroot dip , Mint Sauce and a hung curd dip (made with hung curd, cheese and whipped cream…loved this dip).
Greek Veggie Pizza and Chicken Tikka Pizza (4/5) : The Crust of both the Pizzas was super thin and crisp. Could be a tad bit crispier but liked it like this as well. Toppings were lavish and so was the cheese.
Overall, our experience was good! The beer was nice, some dishes were very good which will surely make us go back. Next time for an evening scene hopefully so that we can enjoy the crowd 😉
