Biryani Blues, a brand serving Biryanis , Curries and some snacks , has become a hit in a very short duration. The first time I tried their Biryani was at their connaught place outlet around 6 months back. They have outlets in Gurgaon as well.
All the outlets have a young vibe to them unlike how you would expect a ‘biryani’ place to be. Nothing too Indian about the decor. The walls are adorned with quirky wall art and installations and the upholstery is colorful.
I would surely point out one thing about Biryani blues, the biryani is better if had at the outlet rather than delivered at home as the moistness goes away and re heating makes it dry. This is what happened with me when I got food packed from the CP branch. I found it decent and nothing special about it. My perception changed about Biryani Blues when on a recent visit to the local market, my friend took me for a quick bite to the new outlet in Malviya Nagar and we picked up some food . Even though we we got it packed, we ate it within 2 minutes so it didn’t get cold.
We ate the following:
Veg Biryani (4/5):
The quantity was quite large, the rice was moist, the veggies were in abundance and the best thing of all, it had a slight thick and spicy curry mixed with the rice. Medium spiced overall and good to taste. Liked it!
Salaan and Raita (3.5/5):
These complimentary accompaniments were good as well. The raita was semi thick and not sour. Salaan was not spicy and that’s how I like it.
Double ka meetha (3.5/5):
Basically Bread which was fried and then dipped in a sweet syrup (similar to shahi tukda). The syrup had a strong flavor of saffron and was topped with crushed roasted almonds. It was nice but couldn’t eat more than one piece. A little extra sweet for me. Also, this would be crisper if had at the outlet.
Overall, the experience was good. Not complaining but slight amendments would make it even better 🙂 A place that could be tried for sure !
