Dhaba by Claridges-Lip smacking desi experience

Food: 4.5/5

Service: 4.5/5

Ambience: 4/5

Overall: 4.5/5

Dhaba by Claridges, a brand that’s been made affordable for all by the group. Having said that, it doesn’t mean food at dirt cheap prices but fairly decent. The prices are comparable to that of any fine dine restaurant. Multiple outlets in Delhi NCR, but I visited the one nearest to my house for a quick lunch with friends.

This restaurant, on the 3rd Floor of DLF Place mall in Saket, will instantly transport you to a local highway dhaba. The sprawling space they have just adds to the feel cause where ever you look, you will only see elements of the highway and dhaba.

The highlight of this place is an actual size truck (with some tables on top of it as well)! We took a table just next to the truck and felt total ‘Desi’. All around us were Vintage Bollywood posters, colourful kites, quirky colourful tables, rustic chairs. To add to it, there was Bollywood music in the background and food was served in steel plates (superior quality of course).

It was a hot day and I started off with ordering Virgin Paan Mojito which turned out to be exactly what I wanted and needed at that time! Refreshing due to mint, lemon and paan.

Moved on and ordered Veg Galouti, Non Veg Galouti,Palak Paneer seekh and Tandoori Mutton Chaap. Veg and Non Veg galouti were super soft and I loved them! The I didn’t know veg galouti could be so tasty as well. Non veg kebab literally melted in the mouth. The Warqi parantha (sweet in taste) along with the kebabs was very thin so that we could concentrate more on the kebab than on the parantha.

Palak Paneer seekh was something I had for the first time. This was soft and and smooth. Added crunch of cashews was nice.

Tandoori Mutton Chaap was cooked in a tandoor and medium spiced. Was well cooked and mutton detached itself form the bone easily.

Coming to the best part, we ordered two Desserts and both turned out pretty good! Phirni and Baileys Kulfi. Phirni was served and cooked in a traditional way. Had good amount of saffron and the sugar was a bit mild so I liked it. Also, it was set in the right way.

Baileys to the traditional kulfi was a nice twist. The baileys was pretty strong and over powered the other flavours. Who minds extra baileys as it is ? 😉

Overall, there wasn’t a thing I didn’t like here and I am craving to be back for the main course! You seldom find places where everything is awesome starting from the service, the ambience, the food and the dessert. Happy to have found one and happier to be recommending this to you all 😀
