Koyla kebab, had heard the name many times but my first visit here. They specialise in kebabs and have three branches in Delhi with the best being the Defence colony branch. Defence colony branch has a better seating than the other two and a place where you can sit and dine-in even during hot summers. Infact, it is simple and very cute
As you enter, you cross the kitchen and the smell of kebabs increases your appetite and you are totally ready to attack some kebabs.
The place has comfortable seating for about 12 people. It is small but cosy and the you can have a peaceful conversation here away from the hussble bussle.
Mutton Seekh kebab: We started out meal with this kebab and boy, it surely was the best of the lot! It was tender and juicy. Liked it!
Mutton Galouti Kebab: This on wasn’t the best I have had cause it can surely be softer but the warqi (sweet) parantha at the base went well with it. It was quite thin anf that’s what I liked about it.
Kakori kebab: This was a new kebab for me and I really liked it! It was like a layer of a thin sheet like kebab wrapped into a roll like shapes. super soft, less spicy and melted in the mouth. Loved it!
Mutton Boti Kebab: Bite sized pieces of mutton cooked with dry masalas. This wa sokaish as I found the mutton a bit hard but the taste was good! Has it been a little better cooked, would have really liked it.
Chicken Malai Tikka: This was soft , juicy and creamy. liked it with the green chutney.
Ok so you need something filling with your kebabs and what better than some stuffed kulchas? The kulchas here were medium stuffed not making them too heavy on the stomach and ofcourse, when served hot, they always taste great. These were no exception. Tried the paneer and mutton kulchas and found the paneer version better as it was stuffed more lavishly and was softer.
Overall, I think gilafi anf and mutton seekh are two dished that will surely take me back to this place.Try it when in mood for some casual dining over kebabs 🙂
