Oriental Blossom, a Chinese restaurant which is a part of a hotel property in Gurgaon, impressed me with its food! I had my favourites fixed for pan asian cuisine in Delhi, but never really tasted good chinese food in Gurgaon. But, I guess I finally found a favourite in Gurgaon for this cuisine!
Oriental blossom is in the market of Sector 29 which is the hub for restaurants these days. It is well connected to other parts of Delhi NCR by road and by metro (IFFCO Station being the nearest).
AMBIENCE:
Oriental Blossom has a big space on the ground floor of the hotel with seating for about 150. As you enter, the first thing that you see is ample amount of natural light lighting up the restaurant and large windows overlooking a well manicured lawn. I personally love natural beauty so I found the view lovely.
As we moved forward, we were welcomed by two large figures on the right. I found the ambience warm and the service was pretty good as well. A box depicting the chinese sun signs was placed on the table to keep us busy while the food was being prepared.
FOOD:
We were there at the time they were celebrating the chinese new year and had a special menu curated for the same apart from the usual a la carte menu. We decided to go for the special menu that included an array of dimsums, some soups, salads, and desserts:
Chicken clear soup: As the name suggests, chicken clear soup wasn’t just clear soup as other places serve it, it had a lot of veggies and chicken pieces making it extremely healthy and tasteful. Served with a crispy canopy stuffed with cheese, ginger, zucchini and some other veggies, it was a bomb of flavours. Loved it and ordered more of this afterwards.
Crunchy Marinated Cucumber and mixed greens Salad:
One of the best salads that I have had for sure! Finely sliced cucumber, Bell peppers, Iceberg and lettuce topped with crispies and peanuts that added a superb crunch to the salad!
Steamed non-veg Crystal dimsum:
Extremely thin and delicate covering stuffed with minced chicken and a good taste of coriander. Liked it!
Pan-Fried vegetable and chicken dimsums: Fried well and tasted good. But somehow I found them more like normal dimsum that I have eaten in the past.
Veg/ Chicken sui mai: Chicken version of this dimsum was my favourite of the lot. It was stuffed well and presented very well in a unique yellow covering. The Veg counterpart of sui mai had mushroom stuffing and I found it good as well.
Szechwan style tiger prawns: We ordered some dishes from the main menu and this was my favourite out of those. Extememly well cooked prawns in a red sauce. Very flavoury!
DESSERTS:
Ordered brownie and honey crispy noodles with vanilla ice cream and I was blown with the taste!! The brownie was extremely gooey, warm and fresh! One of the best brownies that I have had. Crispy honey noodles were also warn and very crisp. Honey quantity was apt.
Overall,
I really liked the food and ambience and would recommend this place for chinese cuisine in gurgaon! 😀
